Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.
I am already a published author – in fact my first work had a print run of over 40,000 copies. Since it was entitled “User Guide to the Computerisation of PAYE” I would strongly advise you to avoid it unless you’re an insomniac. Much of my career was spent as a technical author then later as a, much grander sounding, Knowledge Management Specialist. Essentially, I wrote manuals and guides that most people read as a last resort. Now I would like to write something that people like me might choose to read.
The Finder series is about a girl who has the ability to find things. This leads to her being pressganged into the security services but also opens a path to the stars.

The exterior airlock door irised shut behind her, silencing the comforting hiss of the carrier wave from the communications bead in her ear. She was on her own .In the sudden silence she could hear her rapid breathing and feel her pounding heart. To distract herself from her fear, she pondered whether the term Xenophobia still applied if you had every reason to be absolutely terrified of the Xeno in question. It was self-defeating strategy because it just brought to mind all of the tales the Director had used to explain why not even one the other Xenos would risk drawing the attention of the one she was about to meet. Hell, she thought, even the Hive were awestruck by it, if not actually terrified, and they had uncounted millions of Warriors at their disposal. Not surprising really. Nothing ups your street cred like a reputation for xenocide. She reminded herself that beggars etc, took a breath and forced her legs to carry her forward.. The internal airlock door irised open revealing a short ramp leading up to a blank curved wall. She desperately examined the wall for a sensor or locking mechanism, her fear of being unceremoniously eaten or dumped out the airlock replaced by dread at looking like a primitive hick who didn’t even recognise a door when she saw one. She walked slowly towards the wall desperately examining it for signs of a door or even a seam. She was about four feet away from it when a section of the wall silently disappeared allowing her to see into the chamber beyond it.
THE FINDER TRILOGY
I have been a SF junky from about the age of 7 and have remained addicted for the best part of six decades mainly because of the scale of the stories and the originality of the writing. I also believe that SF best demonstrates the ancient Greek idea that men know what they are and storytelling should show them what they could be. In the case of SF that can be a warning or an aspiration.
